Redefining mentorship for Africa's future pharmacy leaders
How a movement that began with 15 fellows is reshaping what's possible for pharmacy students across the continent.
Read moreThe PIH Fellowship equips pharmacy students to become global changemakers through structured mentorship, leadership development and research training — building a generation of pharmacists who don't just fill prescriptions, but shape the future of health systems.
In 2019, two pharmacy undergraduates at the University of Ibadan — Taiwo Olawehinmi and Yusuff Adebayo Adebisi — began a quiet revolution. They believed students could inspire and support one another to lead, and that African pharmacy students deserved a space to dream ambitiously and build sustainable impact.
What started as a small cohort of 15 fellows has become a pan-African movement. Through six cohorts, the PIH Fellowship has supported nearly 400 pharmacy undergraduates across 16 African countries, connecting them with mentors, research opportunities, leadership development and a community of peers committed to excellence.

PIH gave me a trajectory. I was a young 200L pharmacy student who didn't exactly know how to navigate my way through pharmacy school — but PIH gave me clarity, exquisite mentorship, and connected me with other high-achieving students. I'm so grateful to have passed through the Hub.
The PIH Fellowship has been a total game-changer for me. It opened doors to an incredible network of pharmacy students across Africa doing exceedingly great things — those connections led to other opportunities, and honestly, it's been a chain reaction. I'm loving the growth.
Undoubtedly, PIH was a launchpad to many of the great career decisions I made this year. The mentorship sessions and the relationships forged gave me clarity about where my passion lies. PIH contributed immensely to my growth.
